Biography:

 

Rushdy Samad Othman is a lecturer and researcher at Soran University, and currently he is the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs. He obtained his PhD in Petroleum Geology and Geochemistry from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Australia in 2003. As a PhD student, he taught an intensive short course to a master degree student at UNSW. He was a visiting researcher at UNSW and worked at BHP Billiton in Australia. Before joining Soran University, he held various positions at the Kurdistan Regional Government Office in Australia including the position of Academic Relations Representative.

 

As a PhD student, Rushdy Othman has received three awards; two from the USA and one from Australia. The Awards are as following:

·         The Society for Organic Petrology (TSOP) Student Grants Program Award, USA (2003)

·         American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Grant-In-Aid Award, USA (1999)

·         Australian Postgraduate Award-Industry, APA(I), Australia (1997)
